Cette innovation matière bas-carbone est signée Knauf Industries. La matière alvéolaire Neops est une alternative au polystyrène expansé (PSE). Elle est née d’une collaboration entre le centre de recherche & développement ID lab de Knauf Industries et les producteurs de matière première. Neops est une matière fabriquée selon le concept de la biomass balance. Les matières premières fossiles nécessaires à la fabrication de polystyrène sont remplacées par des matières premières renouvelables.

Neops est certifiée REDcert², nouvelle norme sur l’utilisation de la biomasse durable dans l’industrie chimique. Cette matière est non-pétrosourcée et issue de ressources renouvelables non vivrières (des déchets verts) selon la méthode de Mass Balance.
